Elbow crutches, also known as forearm crutches or Lofstrand crutches, are mobility aids with a cuff that wraps around the forearm and a handle for the hand to grip, designed to help distribute weight from the lower limbs to the upper body. They are often used for long-term ambulation for individuals with permanent disabilities or injuries, such as fractures, ligament tears, or post-surgery recovery, allowing users to take weight off injured or weak legs.
